This drawing is typical of the major drawings that Norman did during the 1920s and is a major study for the watercolour, whereabouts unknown. Some years ago, The Garden Party was stabilised and laid down on acid-free paper by a professional works on paper conservator.

Pencil drawings of this calibre and size are rarely available for sale. Many of Norman's major works were destroyed in the fire in America in 1941, among them another very large pencil drawing titled Bachanal, pictured below. Sadly, they are not well represented in public galleries, either.

The Garden Party is mounted in an double acid-free mount and framed in a mottled gold and wooden frame. As the framed work is so large (105 x 135cm), if you wish to keep the frame it will need to be picked up or delivered by an art courier. If unframed we could send by Australia Post.
