Sally Liki Nanii
Sally Liki Nanii (b. c.1930) - Yulparija language group. Yulparija people originally came from the central Great Sandy Desert area to the south east of Bidyadanga Community on the western Kimberley coast of Western Australia. Sally's story: "This is my country, Yugugree, there is lots of mayi (bush foods) and two jila (waterholes), Buta and Yugugree. I know all the songs for this country. You sing for the water and he comes up from the soak. I miss him, nothing there now, he is gone that country, no people to sing for him." The original painting is in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.
