This First Day Cover was a Springwood Lions Club Project where the Springwood Post Office postmarked the envelopes and the Mayor at the time, Ern Lesslie, signed them. Lesslie was Mayor of the council of City of Blue Mountains from September 1977 to December 1979.

This First Day Cover celebrates the centenary of the birth of Norman Lindsay (1879-1969). It is postmarked Creswick, Victoria where he as born, the son of a doctor. Major works are displayed at the University of Melbourne and at the National Trust's Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum in Springwood, NSW where he lived and worked for more than fifty years.
