Frank Hinder, a pioneer of Australian abstraction and destined to become deeply involved in the development of modern art in Australia, led a most varied, eventual and colourful life.
The many facets of his experiences inspired the diversity of his themes, this diversity being embodied to a large extent in his lithographs which reveal an originality of concept combined with painstaking craftsmanship.
Full page plates are arranged in alphabetical order as well as the catalogue in the relevant years. This book is as comprehensive as possible, but allowance must be made for the passage of time and the fact that the lithographs themselves were published in such small editions.
A small number of the lithographs Frank printed, he also individualised such as Margel, Jerry, and Margo Reading which was predominately printed in neutral tones but number 5/7 was printed in colour from two stones and is reproduced on page 112 in this book.
More on Frank Hinder can be found on the Frank Hinder website.
