DONALD MOKO
(b. c.1930) Wangkajunga/Yulparija language group
Yulparija people originally came from the central Great Sandy Desert area to the south east of Bidyadanga Community on the western Kimberley coast of Western Australia. Donald's story: "This is Lake Telfer in the Great Sandy Desert. There is a big warla (mud flat) in the dry at this place ... We all have the same song, different tunes. My country is a big one. We walked night and day in this country looking for water. This is mining country now." The original painting is in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.
